I make my own kites because commercial ones are expensive and it's more satisfying to fly something I've made.

I use my own kite design application, Hangtime, and Surfplan which was written by David Aberdeen.

The 8.5 sqm kite was made between September and November of 2003. I used 4oz dacron and lightweight spinnaker cloth (AIRX 600N) and sewed it on a ordinary domestic sewing machine. It was pretty simple but time consuming.

I started building my second surf kite in Jan 2004, and finished it in May. I learnt to surf with it in August '04... My latest kite is of my own design using my software to develop the patterns, and it flies!

Most of the information I needed to build and fly the kites is available on zeroprestige and on the inflatodesign group.
